Have you ever been curious about how a tailor measures your suit and pants? What are the proper measurements to take? Can you do it yourself?
Here are your answers to those questions. You can see each measurement that we take by hand here. Now, if you have your own tape measure, you can technically take each of these measurements yourself.
However, it is worth noting that there are subtle differences in measurements if you don’t get the placement exactly correct. This could lead to a suit being constructed that does not have the truly tailored fit that you’re looking for. A good designer also makes slight alterations to measurements to ensure that the suit fits as you would LIKE it to fit.
